I had so much fun at this past year’s event that I’m ready for more mud!! I started running in March as soon as my knee felt strong enough to endure a half mile (I have nerve damage in my right knee from a car accident). I was very nervous about doing the climbing obstacles at this past year’s event because I didn’t think I had the upper body strength to do it. I completed every single obstacle!! I started my weight loss journey in May 2010 after being diagnosed with IgA Nephropathy two years prior. I was constantly exhausted, sickly, and couldn’t concentrate. Since I began my journey, I have lost 57 pounds, have run 5 5K’s (including Dirty Girl) and am now a Zumba Fitness Instructor at the same gym I joined when I started my journey. I LOVE to exercise now and am currently training for a half-marathon. Dirty Girl was an amazing event and showed me that I am very capable of doing things I never thought I could do as long as I believed in myself. Now other people tell me that I’ve inspired them to lose weight or get fit and I love hearing how I’ve helped others.
