Meet Robin
Building her business over the last 5 years, Robin has neglected other things in her life. Its now time for her to venture out, have fun and enjoy new experiences! First up? The dirtygirl mud run! She's even recruited her daughter to train with her. What better way to get back into shape? Something fun and for a good cause!
Gettin’ Ready
It’s already August 4th. Only 5 weeks away from the Dirty Girl Mud Run in South Wales, NY!
I’ve been getting ready…but have already experienced a couple setbacks. However, I will NOT be discouraged. Normally, this kind of thing would have slowed me down and cause me to back out.
But this is too important. I will prove to myself that I can do it!
Ok…what I’m doing to get ready…
+ Mind set. So incredibly important.
+ Proper diet. Cross between Body for Life & Metabolic cooking.
+ Working out
+ Collecting friends who want to do this with me
What am I doing for my workout?
I am not a runner, haven’t been for over 20+ years. So this is really something when I tell folks I’m doing a 5k mud run. I will run, walk or crawl, but I will finish it.
Cardio was attacked first. Started on the treadmill and decided I could use something a bit more intense. I faced my fear and climbed up on the dreaded elliptical. I made a bargain with myself. I’ll do 3 minutes then get off. I made it 5 minutes.
I’ve also added in strength training. Not sure if any of you have heard of Scooby’s Home fitness and Bodybuilding Workouts, but this is the next best thing to having a personal trainer. I’ve taken everything down to my own level and working his program.
So…that’s me, gettin’ ready. How are you getting ready?

I’ve been walking 4 miles a day, 4 days a wk. I don’t have the ability to run like most. I’m not going to say “I can’t..” because there is no such thing as can’t.
I think however, it’s time to build the strength in my legs and arms, so I’m hitting the gym hard.
I too have had a set back..Heel Spurs. I’ve been using KT Tape to elivate the pain, which has helped, but has slowed my work outs drastically.
I’m not giving up. Like you said, I’ll walk, run, jog and or crawl my way to the finish. That’s my goal. To prove to myself that I can do this for me.
See you at Emery Park!!
Good for you Cari!!
Ohh I hadnt tried the KT Tape. But the heel spurs forced me onto the elliptical. Which I hate, but Im doing it.
What are you doing for your strength training? Are you following any particular blog or trainer?
Run, Walk or Crawl….we can do it Cari! If you see me, please stop and say hi!!
You can get the KT tape at Dicks Sporting Good Store. They have loads of colors. And there are loads of ways of using KT Tape, not just for feet.
I have had a busy summer, and seeing that walking long distances isn’t going to get me, up-and-over things, I’m going to need to hit the gym and do some strenthing.
I’ll try the elliptical out. It’s good to read these posts to some what summarize how I’m going to tackle these obstacles.
I’m in wave 12, my team “Tassle Trash..”
We can do it, Robin! See you soon!
Ok…I’ll keep my eye out for your team! See you there!
Hello Robin, I’m starting my training by reading your blog. Yes, I’m someshat behind but I will be right behind you crawling if I have to (note to self… purchase knee pads.) So tonight, instead of working out with my dogs, I might try something else, run/walk or using the gym. See you soon! Cindy
Hi Robin, I’m a procrastinator and while I keep the Sept 10 date in back of my mind, I haven’t really started getting ready yet. I may be walking through the whole thing, though I may run a little too. It’s going to be fun however we do it! I’ll see you at Emery Park! Wave 10, Team Sizzlin’ Sisters
That’s a good start Cindy!! lol Did you get your knee pads? Im wondering if that might be a good idea myself! lol
Oh Lisa…me too! I looked at the calendar this morning and realized its less than 3 weeks away! Thats ok if you walk thru the whole thing…be very proud when you get across that finish line. (how ever you made it there!!!) Just know that you finished it!! See you there!
Lisa, I’ll be walking..I may try to jog a bit in the beginning, but I know that won’t last too long. These heel spurs are definitely getting the best of me..Oh, and I just looked at the calendar, and my eyes just bugged out! lol.
Take pride in what you do ladies, we are there to have fun and raise some $$$ for a good cause. I don’t think it’s going to matter if you run/jog/walk, or even crawl..
I’ll be there “Tassle Trash” team..:)
Cindy…those knee pads..are a darn good idea!!
Will you be dressing up?
